Atlantic Fish Co. (MA)

Article by Sam Dostaler

The Atlantic Fish Co., located in the heart of Boston, offers a formal yet affordable dining experience. Located along Boylston Street, the Atlantic Fish Co. offers nearly every seafood dish imaginable from raw bar options, to New England clam chowder, fried shrimp, lobster, Atlantic haddock, and everything in between.

Each meal at the Atlantic Fish Co. is large, meaning you will never leave hungry. While at the Atlantic Fish Co. we had the opportunity to try a few different meals including the Atlantic Fried Platters (three options), Shrimp Scampi, and the Captain’s Platter.

When choosing an Atlantic Fried Platter ($18-$23) the options include shrimp, Ipswich clams or scallops are served with a large helping of hand-cut french fries. The fried platters are sweet and not greasy. If you cannot decide between the three then go with the Captain’s Platter ($28) which also includes Atlantic haddock.

The Shrimp Scampi ($21) will not disappoint either and once again do not worry about the helping size, the shrimp, which pop with freshness at each bite, will be sweet, and once again, there will be more than enough to satisfy.

The most intriguing item on the menu is the New England Lobster Feast, offered only on the dinner menu. The cost is $89 but the menu states that it feeds two people so it is a pretty good deal when you look at all the food the dish is served with. In addition, to a two-pound lobster, the meal includes clam chowder, mussels, steamers, corn on the cob, and new potatoes.

For those who do not elect to order seafood, there are a wide range of non-seafood offerings. The options range from Blackened Chicken Sandwich ($11), Charbroiled Hamburger ($14),) Chicken Piccata ($18), and Prime New York Strip ($47).

Sam’s Experience: I have had lunch and dinner at the Atlantic Fish Co. on a number of occasions and even though the restaurant is upscale guests are welcomed with open arms regardless of how you are dressed for your day in the city, whether dressed to the nines for a night at the Holiday Pops or for a Red Sox game on a July evening.

Recommendation: Make sure to call ahead and make a reservation. The restaurant is busy year round so making a reservation for either lunch or dinner is advised. After being seated don’t forget to ask for the french bread, served with easily spreadable butter. Just don’t fill up on bread before your meal!

Additional Notes: The Atlantic Seafood Co. also has a Kid’s Menu with all entrees costing less than $10 and a Brunch Menu.
