New England Clam Chowder at The Black Pearl (RI)

If you are looking for some “World Famous” New England clam chowder then head to Newport, Rhode Island.

The Black Pearl website states that their chowder is the “World Famous Black Pearl Clam Chowder” and they aren’t wrong. Full disclosure The Black Pearl’s clam chowder is where I first tried chowder and I haven’t looked back since.

The chowder is thick and creamy and most importantly every bite is filled with large pieces of fresh clams. You can order either a cup ($6.50) or a bowl ($9.75) and rather than serving the chowder with oyster crackers each helping comes with saltines.

When seated inside the Tavern you can see the fresh clam chowder behind the bar and watch as your waiter scoops your bowl. The chowder is perfect as either an appetizer when you order the cup or as a meal if you order the bowl.
